Kavya Rajesh is a rising senior at Downingtown West High School. She began her journey in Indian classical flute music at the age of 10 under the tutelage of Sri Balachandar Krishnaraj. Kavya has also been learning Carnatic vocal since the age of 6, and currently learns from Srimati Sribala Ramakrishnan, a disciple of the great T.N Seshagopalan. Her love for music permeates her life, and she plays the western flute and piccolo in her school's marching band, and has now earned the position of drum major. With the help of her guru's guidance and teachings, Kavya has been able to build her flute skills as a senior student of Natyaswara. Through both Carnatic and western music, Kavya explores the intricacies and beauty, and various sides of music, expresses her creative and performing side, and also connects with her heritage and cultural roots, performing for family and friends, and learning more about the connections of Carnatic music in her culture. Throughout her musical career, Kavya has performed in various venues throughout the country and has competed in both nation-wide and global events, and has been able to showcase both her skill, creativity, and love for music. Apart from her love for music, Kavya enjoys reading and staying active. She is a part of various organizations in her school, including the South Asian Student Alliance, Student Council, National Honor Society, and DECA. Kavya's Arangetram is an important milestone in her musical journey, and marks the next step for a future filled with music and melody. She hopes to make her Arangetram a beautiful and inspiring experience for all listeners.
